Preparing the canned tuna pasta recipe

  1. Let's get started straight away: to prepare this fabulous pasta with white tuna, boil a large pot of water for the pasta. Salt it a little, since it is a recipe with many tasty ingredients.
  2. Meanwhile, take a pan and fry the poached garlic in a drizzle of oil. Also add the fresh chilli pepper and then melt the anchovy fillets.
  3. Meanwhile, desalt the capers by rinsing them under running water and drain the tuna from its preserving liquid .
  4. When the anchovies have melted, add the tuna and capers to the pan and sauté for a few minutes .
  5. Now comes the secret: the cooking water! When the pasta is almost cooked, drain it directly into the pan and add a few ladles of cooking water to thicken the sauce with the starch .
  6. Skip the pasta and in the meantime add the aromatic herbs (basil is also great) and the lemon zest to give that extra touch of acidity .

If you like, you can also add some cherry tomatoes, or some Taggiasca olives, which are great. Finally, as a variation on the classic grated cheese, we recommend breadcrumbs or toasted bread crumbs!

Tuna pasta: the variations

As you may have understood, there really is no limit to your imagination when it comes to tuna pasta. But how many variations can you make? Well, we'll tell you some that will make your mouth water.

  • Cold pasta. Tuna is also the main ingredient for a great cold pasta. To make it, cook the pasta, leaving it behind for a minute , so that when it has cooled it is not soft, and above all choose a short pasta. The combinations, then, are endless : in addition to tuna we recommend fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, olives, anchovies, basil and obviously a good grinding of pepper and excellent extra virgin olive oil!
  • A dish that recalls "away from home student" recipes is Philadelphia and tuna pasta, but those who have tried it have had to change their minds about all kinds of prejudices. The recipe is very simple : after cooking and draining the pasta, add the tuna and Philadelphia to the pan (about 200 g will be enough). The cream cheese will serve as a perfect base for this simple and surprising dish!

Have you ever tried tuna carbonara ? It's a fairy tale!
