How to prepare the orange frost recipe
- First cut the oranges in half and squeeze the juice until you get 500 ml. Out of season you can also buy 100% fruit orange juice with no added sugar.
- Pour 100 ml into a bowl and dissolve the cornstarch until it has completely dissolved. Pour the remaining juice into a saucepan with the sugar and bring everything to a boil , stirring often.
- Also add the juice with the cornstarch, stirring with a whisk, and cook for 5 minutes , until it has the consistency of custard.
- Pour the mixture into 4 single-portion pudding molds , cover them with plastic wrap and let them rest in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving. At that point it will be sufficient to turn them upside down on a plate and make them detach with the help of the blade of a knife.
As mentioned, Sicilian orange frost is not the only recipe of this type. Also try the mellone ice and you will not regret it.
