Here are the chicken rolls, a tasty recipe that can be prepared with many different fillings and which is cooked in the oven.

Do you want to prepare a tasty second course that isn't the usual baked or pan-fried chicken breast? Then these baked chicken rolls are for you. Ideal to serve on any occasion and to accompany with your favorite vegetables, this dish combines the softness of the meat with the deliciousness of the filling, which is usually prepared with cured meats and cheeses.

How to prepare the recipe for baked chicken rolls

Take the chicken breast slices and, if necessary, beat them with a meat mallet to make them thin. To avoid fraying the meat, place the slices between two sheets of baking paper.

Season the part of meat that will go inside with salt and pepper then spread a slice of fontina and one of cooked ham on each.

Close the chicken rolls by wrapping them around themselves, roll them in breadcrumbs and secure them with toothpicks. Oil a baking dish and place the rolls then drizzle them with a drizzle of oil and season them with salt and pepper .

Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for 25-30 minutes . For uniform browning we recommend turning them halfway through cooking.

This recipe is really simple to make and, once baked, you will have plenty of time to dedicate yourself to other things. However, we leave you a short video with all the steps.

Stuffed meat rolls: some variations

The chicken breast rolls we just cooked are certainly not the only ones that can be made, in fact, this recipe really opens up a world!

If you want, you can vary the filling ingredients for your rolls, trying different solutions and using the cold cuts and cheeses you like best. We recommend bacon, raw ham or speck, but as for the cheese, choose one suitable for melting: even simple thin slices will be fine but smoked scamorza is able to give the dish an incredible boost of flavour.

Another variant, even more delicious and mouth-watering, is to bread the rolls by first dipping them in flour, then in beaten egg and finally in breadcrumbs. Bake in the oven for a crispier result than ever! Alternatively, simply add a couple of tablespoons of grated cheese to the bread before using it to cover the rolls.

Finally, for all those with a sweet tooth, there is also the possibility of dressing the rolls as we did in the recipe for chicken rolls with bacon . The fat on the outside will melt during cooking and the result will be crispier than ever!

Conservation

The rolls will keep for a couple of days in the refrigerator, well covered in cling film. We recommend heating them in a pan over low heat before serving.
