Preparation of the recipe for the pear and chocolate cake

  1. Start with the fruit: take the pears, peel them and cut them. We have chosen the cut into cubes but you can also make slices and arrange them on the surface.
  2. Take the chocolate, chop it finely and melt it in a bain marie . Stir occasionally with the help of a spatula. Alternatively, you can also melt it in the microwave.
  3. After that add the butter and stir to make it melt. Let it cool down.
  4. Put the eggs and sugar in a bowl and whisk them with an electric whisk until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  5. After that, add the sifted flour, baking powder and, finally, with a spatula, mix everything from the bottom up to avoid disassembling the dough .
  6. Pour the diced pears into the mixture, mix to incorporate everything and transfer to a cake mold.
  7. Bake at 180 ° C for 35 minutes , let cool, sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.

A tip for some extra goodies : enrich the cake with chocolate chips by sprinkling them on the surface!

Tips for the pear and chocolate cake: without butter, soft and creamy

You can flavor the pears by cutting them and placing them in a saucepan over high heat together to a liqueur or a sweet wine of your liking (we chose the rum). Let them brown for a few minutes , until the liqueur has shrunk. After that, proceed as per preparation. If the dough is too liquid , add some more flour to make it homogeneous; on the contrary, if it is too solid , add some milk to make it soft. In case you don’t have butter at home , replace it with the same amount of sunflower oil that will be added when you whip the eggs with the sugar. Finally, if you like the spicy taste , you can add a level teaspoon of cinnamon powder: we still advise you to taste the dough to actually check if the dose inserted is sufficient as the sweet of the pears could cover the aroma of the spice!
