They are among the favorites of the little ones but even the adults can hardly resist them. We prepare sausage pretzels with just three ingredients, flavoring them with mustard , but if you want you can also prepare half with mustard and half with ketchup. That's how!

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 1 roll of ready-made rectangular puff pastry
  • 10 frankfurters
  • 2 tablespoons of mustard

Unroll the puff pastry and spread a thin layer of mustard. Lay the first frankfurter along the short side, roll up and, as soon as the pastry overlaps, press well and cut. Place another frankfurter and proceed until the pastry is used up. Then cut into cylinders of approximately 2 cm , place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cook at 180°C for 20 minutes or until they are golden brown. Serve them once cooled.

Of all the pretzels, the recipe we like most is that of puff pastry swirls . What makes us go crazy is the combination of tomato and cheese , the same as pizza, but in this preparation with puff pastry it is even more accentuated. This time too, just a few ingredients are enough to prepare these homemade pretzels.

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 100 g of tomato sauce
  • 100 g of mature sliced ​​cheese
  • dried oregano to taste

Unroll the puff pastry and spread the tomato sauce seasoned with oregano and salt on the surface. Keep them a little away from the edges to prevent everything from coming out when rolling. Then cover with the sliced ​​cheese and roll up tightly using the baking paper. Cut slices of a couple of centimetres, place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cook at 180°C for 10-15 minutes, until they are swollen and golden. Then serve them once they have cooled.

Puff pastry rustici are one of the most versatile savory recipes ever. In fact, the filling is simple to customize according to your tastes and you can opt for the classic combinations found in bakeries, such as tuna and peppers, or a delicate one perfect for vegetarians, a lean filling with ricotta and spinach .

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
  • 100 g of cooked spinach
  • 100 g of ricotta
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • Salt to taste

Chop the cooked spinach and mix it in a bowl with the ricotta , parmesan , salt and nutmeg . Once you have a fairly dry filling, transfer it into a pastry bag with a 1cm smooth nozzle. Roll out a strip about a centimeter away from the short side of the pastry, roll up and as soon as they overlap, cut. Proceed with another strip of filling, rolling up from time to time, until the ingredients are used up. Then cut the rustici into 2 cm pieces, place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cook at 180°C for 15-20 minutes , until the pastry is golden and crunchy. Serve them once cooled.

To make everyone happy, we recommend you also try our puff pastry pretzels with prawns . Simple and with a delicate flavour , they resemble small brioches and are perfect for enriching your savory options even further.

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 1 roll of round puff pastry
  • 16 prawn tails
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • poppy seeds to taste
  • sesame seeds to taste
  • Salt to taste

Cut 16 slices from the pastry and place a clean prawn near the widest part. Roll up well from the base to the tip, and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Brush them with egg, decorate with seeds and bake at 180°C for 12-15 minutes , until they are beautifully golden. Serve them once they have cooled.

The secret that makes the pizzas present in the trays of pretzels so good is precisely that of being prepared with this recipe. The puff pastry pizzas are easy, quick and delicious , excellent to customize as you like with olives, mushrooms or anchovies according to your tastes.

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 100 g of tomato puree
  • 80 g of mozzarella
  • Salt to taste
  • pepper as needed
  • extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • oregano to taste

Unroll the pastry and cut into squares of about 3 cm on each side. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper, brush them with a drizzle of oil and then season them with the tomato puree flavored with oregano, salt and pepper and the dry mozzarella cut into chunks. Cook at 200°C for 15 minutes then serve once warm.

How to prepare a tray of mixed pretzels

The beauty of pretzels is that they can be prepared in so many ways without effort. This should therefore be an advantage for creating a tray of mixed pretzels , perfect for birthdays or for an aperitif with friends. If you know the tastes of your guests, it shouldn't be difficult to include them in the homemade pretzels, vice versa, the flavors we have proposed are usually able to please everyone.

Then, based on the occasion, calculate the quantity of pretzels needed. For an aperitif with friends and for a birthday party, 6-8 pieces per person are more than enough. Keep in mind that it is always better to have a few more than to be left empty-handed.
