Simple to make with just three ingredients, air fryer apple chips are perfect if you're looking for a healthy snack.
If you are looking for a simple but delicious snack or snack, we recommend preparing the apple chips in an air fryer. Crunchy and sweet to the right point, they cook in a few minutes and keep for up to a week. In their simplest version they are made with only three ingredients , i.e. apples, preferably red to obtain a pleasant chromatic contrast, lemon juice and sugar.
But no one forbids you to flavor them with cinnamon and obtain, if you like, a more wintery version. Either way, the beauty of air fryer apple chips is that they take minutes to prepare unlike in the oven or dehydrator. So let's see all the steps to make apple chips.
How to make apple chips recipe in an air fryer
- First, we advise you to choose organic red apples since we are also going to consume the peel. Then wash it well under running water and dry it with kitchen paper.
- With the help of a core remover , remove the central core then, with a mandoline or a very sharp knife, obtain very thin slices: we have made them 2 mm thick .
- Toss them with the sugar and lemon juice and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook at 160°C for 5-7 minutes 180°C for another 2-4 minutes . Transfer them to a plate and let them cool to obtain the final crunchy texture.
If you prefer air fryer cinnamon apple chips add 1 teaspoon along with the sugar and lemon juice and stir to distribute. The rest of the procedure remains unchanged.
Alternatively, you can prepare the apple chips in the oven : the cooking times will be longer but the result will be very similar.
The apple chips in the air fryer can be kept in a tin box away from sources of humidity for over a week.
