Baked celery au gratin, a side dish you don’t expect

Gratin celery is a particular side dish that can be prepared in a light version or in a richer one with bechamel.

Celery is a somewhat snubbed ingredient and used at most for the preparation of sautéing or to give a crunchy note to salads. Yet it is also possible to use it to create a delicious recipe that everyone can agree on. We are talking about celery au gratin, perfect even for the most important occasions.

The preparation is really simple because once blanched you just need to put it back in the oven with grated bread and parmesan . This way you will obtain a celery gratin with parmigiana that is very tasty but at the same time light and perfect if you are on a diet. But you know that we love tasty side dishes so in addition to this version, we also tried the one with bechamel and let me tell you: it's amazing!

How to prepare the celery gratin recipe

  1. First wash the celery sticks, remove the white part of the attachment and the filaments. Then cut them into 10cm pieces and blanch them in salted water for 10 minutes.
  2. Drain the celery and transfer it to a baking dish, suitable for cooking lightly in the oven, oiled (or buttered).
  3. Combine the parmesan, breadcrumbs, parsley, garlic clove, a pinch of salt and a few tablespoons of oil in a kitchen mixer. Blend until you obtain a slightly moist aromatic mixture .
  4. Distribute it on the celery and put it in the oven at 180°C for 15 minutes , switching to the grill function for the last two minutes. Serve it hot!
