Bibimbap is a recipe of Korean origin: a typical product based on rice, meat and vegetables. Let's find out how to prepare it at home in no time.

The bibimbap recipe consists of a rice-based dish mixed with boiled vegetables, meat and a typical sauce. Traditionally it is served in a deep dish, inside which the rice is poured first and, then, the other ingredients are added. In the original recipe, gochujang sauce , which is based on chillies, is a must. In addition, you must serve by decorating the surface with a fried egg .

The origins of bibimbap are very distant and linked to the peasant tradition . It is said that the peasants prepared this Korean dish to combine several dishes in a single course, to feed everyone and not make anything left, on the night of the New Year's Eve .

Preparation of the recipe for bibimbap

  1. First, pour the minced meat into a bowl. Chop and add a clove of garlic.
  2. Add the brown sugar, a drizzle of sesame oil and the soy sauce.
  3. Mix everything and leave to marinate for 30 minutes .
  4. Carefully wash all the vegetables and bean sprouts. Peel the courgettes and carrots and cut them into sticks .
  5. Dip the spinach in salted water, blanch for half a minute on the stove, then drain. Squeeze and cut this vegetable into strips.
  6. Switch to the rice, washing it under cold water and draining it carefully. Then pour it into a pot full of salted water and put on the stove.
  7. Once it comes to a boil, cover and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes .
  8. Turn off and leave the pot covered for another 10 minutes to allow the rice to swell.
  9. Meanwhile, take a pan and fill it with 2 tablespoons of seed oil. Put the zucchini, carrots, spinach and bean sprouts inside.
  10. Sauté for 5 minutes, then turn off and add salt.
  11. In another pan, pour 2 tablespoons of seed oil and the meat together with the marinade, brown for 5 minutes, over medium heat.
  12. Now that this single Korean dish is almost ready, you need to fry the eggs in a pan over low heat; one at a time, so as not to melt them.
  13. Take the soup plates and distribute the rice first. Then, cover each course with meat and vegetables and top with a fried egg in each.
