Who said that to prepare a delicious side dish you have to go to the stove. Take the Indian salad for example: this recipe is incredibly simple but thanks to the skilful combination of ingredients it is truly delicious. Perfect for summer , it can be customized according to your tastes.
But why is it called Indian salad you may be wondering, since it is prepared with cucumbers, onions, peppers and tomatoes, all ingredients also used in our cuisine? The reason lies in another ingredient, coriander . This parsley-like herb has a distinctive taste that not everyone likes. But combined with the lemon flavor it is truly amazing, so our advice is to try and experiment.
How to prepare the Indian salad recipe
- As you can guess everything is resolved in the cutting of vegetables . To obtain a salad that is not only good but also beautiful to look at, just cut the vegetables all of different shapes. The pepper, after having washed it and deprived of seeds and internal filaments, should be cut into squares. The cucumber, on the other hand, once the ends have been removed, can be peeled once and again and then cut in half lengthwise first and then into slices or pieces. Tomatoes, if large, can be cut into slices, if small in four. Finally the onion gives its best cut in half and then in slices.
- Combine all the vegetables in a bowl and mix well with your hands.
- Season with a pinch of salt, a sprinkle of pepper and flavor with the chopped coriander with a knife.
- Finally season with lemon juice and a drizzle of raw oil.
Among the other quick and easy recipes, there is another salad that you should definitely try. It is a salad with grapes and cucumbers enriched with feta cheese.
You can store all the chopped vegetables in an airtight container for a couple of days . However, we advise you to dress the salad only shortly before enjoying it.
