Ginger and lemon: benefits and contraindications for the body
Ginger and lemon are a panacea for our body as long as they are taken in the right way. Let's find out more about how they work
When it comes to well-being, ginger and lemon are two excellent allies of our body.
The benefits they bring are in fact many. Which is why these two ingredients can often be found combined, especially in infusions.
Ginger, for example, has digestive properties and is an excellent remedy for nausea, while lemon, rich in vitamin C, is an excellent natural antioxidant and promotes the assimilation of iron.
Together they represent a real panacea for the body, provided however that you are careful and do not exceed the quantities.
The benefits and contraindications of ginger and lemon
Ginger can be taken to appease the sense of nausea and is also excellent for clearing the airways or as an anti-inflammatory. In Oriene it is widely used for therapeutic purposes and is truly invaluable for combating or preventing flu states.
Lemon, on the other hand, is rich in vitamin C, and is both an excellent antioxidant and an excellent disinfectant. It helps assimilate iron and also aids in digestion. If you want to reap all the benefits of vitamin C, however, it is useful to know that lemon should not be infused in boiling water because this vitamin loses its effectiveness above 45 degrees.
Going to the two foods together, ginger and lemon make for both a detox drink and a great digestive. It is also excellent in case of nausea, heavy meals and all those conditions in which one feels exhausted and in need of more energy.
Obviously, there are cases where you have to pay attention to how and how much these two ingredients are consumed together. In fact, it is good not to consume too much ginger if you suffer from gastrointestinal disorders such as ulcers , gastritis , swelling or gastroesophageal reflux.
As for lemon, however, it should be avoided in case of oral cavity disorders such as pyorrhoea or gingivitis. Furthermore, due to the acidity of the lemon, tooth enamel could be damaged by frequent intake. In this case, the advice is to use a straw in order to protect the oral cavity.
Also due to the acidity of lemon, it is important to consume it with caution in case of gastric hyperacidity or very serious liver failure. The maximum recommended daily dose of lemons is 3, to be diluted in non-boiling water. Ginger, on the other hand, can be taken both in the form of root (in which case a few grams are enough) and in the form of powder. Even the latter can be taken in doses of a tip of a teaspoon.
Leaving aside the due precautions, ginger and lemon are the perfect choice if inside a herbal tea. To make it, just put the two ingredients in infusion in hot but not boiling water. The advice, in order to keep this drink healthy, is not to use sugar. If it is too bitter, the herbal tea can be sweetened with a pinch of honey. The result will be more than pleasant and you will be able to enjoy all the benefits without any health risks.
