With the technical name Solidago virga-aurea , it is commonly called goldenrod. It is a perennial herbaceous medicinal plant, belonging to the Compositae or Asteraceae family . Its flowering tops are rich in essential oil, flavonoids, triterpene saponins, phenolic acids and tannins. Considered a precious natural remedy, it boasts properties that are worth emphasizing: diuretic, purifying , astringent, antiseptic, healing, antilithiasic and spasmolytic.

Therefore, the goldenrod is recommended to combat various problems : from urinary tract infections (gravel, stones , cystitis , etc.) to water retention, through cellulite, gout , hyperuricemia, stomatitis and inflammation of the throat. Not only that, it's a powerful ally of hair and skin, especially when the skin is red. As far as uses are concerned, this natural remedy can be purchased in the form of an infusion, decoction, mother tincture and essential oil. It is also possible to find tablet supplements that contain it as an ingredient.

Goldenrod: the contraindications

Preparing herbal tea with goldenrod is very simple: all you have to do is infuse 3-5 grams of herb in 150 ml of boiling water for 15 minutes. You can drink between two and four cups a day, for up to two weeks. The infusion can also be used for intimate douches and as a mouthwash. For the dose of the tincture and the tablets, follow the instructions of your herbalist or pharmacist.

In terms of contraindications , its intake is not recommended in case of allergy to Asteraceae . Similarly, those taking diuretic drugs, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and in case of edema and chronic kidney disease should be kept away from it.
