Method

  1. Peel the onions and wash them under running water. After drying them, cut them in half (they don't have to be that big otherwise, otherwise cut them into rounds).
  2. In a bowl mix together breadcrumbs, parmesan, salt, pepper and oregano. Combine well with the help of a spoon, while little by little pour in the extra virgin olive oil . Leave until the dry mixture is well seasoned.
  3. Place a sheet of baking paper inside the air fryer. Arrange the onions on top and fill them with the mix of breadcrumbs, parmesan and spices. Check that they do not overlap each other.
  4. Cook the rounds at 180°C for the first 10-15 minutes . Subsequently, raise the temperature of the air fryer to 200°C and continue cooking for another 5 minutes (or in any case until they have become soft ).
  5. Your air fryer gratin onions are ready! Serve them while still hot.

To store onions au gratin in the air fryer, simply place them in an airtight container . Once the container is placed in the refrigerator, the onions will last for 2-3 days , even if they will lose some of their typical fragrance given by the breadcrumbs.

Variations of the recipe

Since this recipe is based on a breading made with breadcrumbs and spices, you can season your onions with the aromas you prefer . You can use, for example, a finely chopped sprig of parsley or a grated nutmeg .
