Preparing croutons or other appetizers with cooked ham mousse is the right choice if you are short on time.
Appetizers are the way you introduce yourself to your guests, what will make them understand what you’re made of. This is why their preparation should not be underestimated in any way, even if we are talking about an easy recipe like ham mousse.
Perfect to spread on warm croutons , to dress pasta, stuff cream puffs, vul-au-vents and tartlets, the ham cream will appeal to young and old alike. The positive aspect of this cooked ham sauce is that it is prepared in no time and you can keep it for a day in the refrigerator , thus allowing you to take advantage of some preparations. Our version includes cream and spreadable cheese, but no one forbids you to replace the latter with ricotta for a lighter recipe .
How to prepare the cooked ham mousse recipe
- First, cut the slice of cooked ham into cubes . Our advice is to have it sliced directly from the butcher and avoid the ready-made cubes.
- Transfer cubes and cream in a blender and blend until frothy.
- Add the oil, a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper and stir in the spreadable cheese, stirring gently with a kitchen spatula until blended.
- Your ham mousse is ready to be enjoyed.
Similarly, you can make the mortadella mousse which, with the versions based on tuna and salmon, is perfect for creating a truly amazing dish of croutons . You can also prepare the raw ham mousse by simply substituting it for the cooked ham. The quantities of the ingredients remain unchanged.
The ham mousse can be kept in the refrigerator for a maximum of one day, well covered with plastic wrap.
