It is a very traditional dish in Greece, but which today we will prepare with a very practical appliance: here comes the recipe for moussaka in the air fryer. Also called mussaka, it is a typical Greek product, a single dish full of good and genuine ingredients.

The interior consists of alternating various layers, made up of potatoes and aubergines, to which other ingredients must be added. For this recipe, we need to prepare a ragù with minced lamb and pork . Enrich the dish with the béchamel and flavor with the inevitable cinnamon. With this dish you will bring all the flavor of Greece to the table!

Preparing the moussaka recipe in the air fryer

  1. First, wash and peel the potato. Cut it into thin slices and soak it in a bowl full of water.
  2. Also wash and peel the aubergines and cut the pulp into thin slices. Place them in a colander, covering each slice with a little coarse salt.
  3. After about ten minutes, cook the potatoes in the air fryer at 180°C for 10 minutes .
  4. Next, do the same with the aubergines, cooking them for the same amount of time.
  5. Move to the ragĂą, then pour a drizzle of olive oil on the bottom of a non-stick pan.
  6. Add the chopped onion and let it soften; once done, add the minced lamb and pork and brown for a few minutes over a high heat .
  7. At a certain point, season the sauce with salt and pepper; then, blend with the white wine, allowing it to evaporate completely.
  8. Pour the tomato puree into the pan and leave to cook for about 45 minutes, seasoning with ground cinnamon.
  9. Once cooking is finished, take a baking dish and make the Greek Moussaka.
  10. Form a layer of potatoes, then one of aubergines. Subsequently, make a generous layer with half of the meat sauce.
  11. Sprinkle the grated cheese, then repeat the layers: arrange the potatoes first, then the aubergines.
  12. Cover with the other part of ragĂą and finish with a layer of bechamel , which you can make at home. Sprinkle more grated cheese.
  13. Place the dish in the air fryer basket, preheated, and cook at 180°C for 20 minutes . Once finished, let cool and serve!

Air fryer moussaka is a typical substantial Greek product, suitable for filling up on energy; with this dish you can taste a bit of Greek cuisine in your homes. You can keep it for 2 days in the fridge .
