The name refers to its circular shape, which almost looks like a crown in which a very soft dough and lots of chocolate-flavored cream are wrapped. The dough is simple to make, with few common ingredients, and when cooked it becomes soft like a tasty brioche bread .

Preparing the recipe for the Nutella crown

  1. First, sift the flour and pour it into a bowl, making a fountain.
  2. Dig a well in the center and add the sugar and a pinch of salt.
  3. Create a void again in the center of the powders and add the butter, cutting it into cubes.
  4. Work everything together with your fingertips, so as to obtain a crumbly mixture.
  5. At this point, add the eggs and work again until they are completely absorbed.
  6. Add the sifted yeast and pour in the milk several times ; continue kneading until you obtain a smooth and firm dough.
  7. At this point, roll out the dough on a floured surface. Form a rectangular sheet, approximately 3-4 mm thick .
  8. Spread a generous layer of Nutella on the pastry, leaving a little edge free.
  9. Roll the dough on itself , closing the outer edge well.
  10. Take a smooth-bladed knife and divide this roll into rounds , about 3-4 cm wide .
  11. Next, take a circular baking tray with a diameter of approximately 26 cm; cover it with a sheet of baking paper.
  12. Arrange the washers inside the mold, creating a crown (similar to the one in the photo).
  13. Brush a little milk on the surface of the cake. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 30 minutes.
  14. Once finished, let the dessert cool and then decorate it as you wish, for example with icing sugar and melted chocolate.


The sweet Nutella crown is delicious and easy to eat, so much so that one slice leads to another! You can store it for 2-3 days in an airtight container.
