Method

  1. Peel the onions and wash them under running water. After drying them, cut them in half (they don't have to be too big otherwise, otherwise cut them into slices).
  2. In a bowl mix together breadcrumbs, parmesan, salt, pepper and oregano. Combine well with the help of a spoon, while gradually pouring in the extra virgin olive oil . Put it in until the dry mixture is well seasoned.
  3. Place a sheet of parchment paper inside the air fryer. Arrange the onions on top and stuff them with the mix of breadcrumbs, parmesan and spices. Make sure they don't overlap each other.
  4. Cook the slices at 180°C for the first 10-15 minutes . Subsequently, raise the temperature of the air fryer to 200°C and continue cooking for another 5 minutes (or in any case until they become soft ).
  5. Your air fryer onions au gratin are ready! Serve them still hot.

storage

To store your air fryer au gratin onions, simply place them in an airtight container . Once the container is refrigerated, the onions will last for 2-3 days , although they will lose some of their typical breadcrumb fragrance .

Variations of the recipe

Since this recipe is based on a breading made with breadcrumbs and spices, you can season your onions with the flavors you prefer . You can use, for example, a sprig of finely chopped parsley or a grating of nutmeg .
