Tomato sauce in the air fryer

tomato sauce in air fryer

Simple to prepare, the tomato sauce in the air fryer contains all the flavors of caramelized tomatoes and fresh basil.

Let's admit we experimented with this recipe with a little skepticism. Cooking a tomato sauce in an air fryer seems like a rather unusual practice , especially considering that in reality, this appliance is nothing more than a convection oven. However, the result pleasantly surprised us because the tomato was in a certain sense caramelized and all its flavor came out.

Clearly you shouldn't expect the classic tomato sauce, for that you will still have to proceed in the traditional way. But the fresh sauce with basil in the air fryer is really delicious , perfect for seasoning both pasta and ravioli . Here's how to prepare it in a simple way.

How to make tomato sauce recipe in air fryer

  1. First wash the tomatoes and cut them in half.
  2. Place them in the pan of the air fryer or in one that fits sized. Earthenware containers are also fine. As you can guess, there are two important things: they must be suitable for cooking in the oven and they must not be pierced (for this reason the basket is not suitable).
  3. Put the cherry tomatoes, the minced garlic, the basil broken up by hand, the oil, salt and pepper inside and mix everything well.
  4. Cook at 180°C for 25 minutes , removing the basket to mix at least 3 times over the course of time and, at the end of cooking, puree everything or puree it with a vegetable mill to obtain a more homogeneous consistency.
  5. Use the sauce to season your first courses.

Other recipes to experiment with in the air fryer include tomatoes au gratin , which are great for serving as a side dish.

storage

The sauce with fresh cherry tomatoes in the air fryer can be kept for 2-3 days in the refrigerator , placed in an airtight container.
