Preparation of vegan chocolate cake

  1. In a bowl, mix the sifted flour with the bitter cocoa and the sugar, adding a pinch of salt and the bicarbonate of soda to the mixture.
  2. After mixing all the ingredients well, add the seed oil and a teaspoon of vinegar and start mixing vigorously with a whisk.
  3. When the mixture begins to thicken , add the water.
  4. Melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie or in the microwave; pour it into the mixture and continue mixing.
  5. When the dough is of the right consistency , you will be ready to bake the cake. Pour it into a cake pan lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 35-40 minutes .
  6. Once ready, turn off the oven and let the chocolate cake without eggs, milk and butter rest for a few minutes.

Delicious variations of vegan chocolate cake

  • Frosted vegan chocolate cake. To prepare the icing you will need 50 g of dark chocolate, 100 g of icing sugar and 3 tablespoons of hot water. In a small pan placed on a low heat, melt the chocolate with the water. When it has melted, add the sugar, turn off the heat and continue mixing until the mixture is thick. Once the cake is out of the oven, let it cool and pour the icing over it.
  • Vegan and light chocolate cake. To make this cake even healthier and lighter, you can choose to replace the seed oil with the same quantity of rice or soy milk . The flavor of these types of milk is quite strong: we advise you to choose one that has a not too strong flavour.
  • Stuffed vegan chocolate cake. Equip yourself with a cake cutting knife, cut it in half and spread a layer of your favorite jam. We recommend the strawberry jam , an explosion of sweetness!


This vegan cake has conservation times similar to those of any cake: keep it for about 4 days in a glass bell jar or inside a tightly closed container.
